Challenge

Olympia Development of Michigan (ODM) challenged ParkWhiz (an Arrive brand) to improve the parking experience in The District Detroit. The District Detroit is a dynamic urban destination in the heart of downtown Detroit with a variety of developments alongside Detroit’s premier sports and entertainment venues. Given the number of events and attractions in the area, parking can be difficult and traffic can be congested. 

It was critical to support the parking experience for event-centric sports fans and concert-goers, as well as shoppers, diners and those that live and work in and around The District Detroit.

Solution

The ODM and ParkWhiz partnership simplified parking by focusing on getting drivers to pre-purchase a spot before heading to the neighborhood. ParkWhiz created and launched The District Detroit’s official parking guide: ParkDistrictDetroit.com. The website provides drivers a way to find and pre-purchase the most convenient parking available for all of the area’s attractions.

ParkWhiz also provided other parking options to drivers seeking to book parking spaces before reaching their destinations. Visitors can pre-pay for parking passes via Ticketmaster.com, Parkwhiz.com, the ParkWhiz app and The District Detroit app.

Signage, local listings and promotions were created to drive awareness among Detroiters for the improved parking options. 

Results

The results are strong. In the third year of the partnership, ODM is pacing to grow online bookings by 240% YOY. Egress time dropped by ~75% (45-55 minutes to 12 minutes) in 10 months through a combination of the technology and operational improvements. Additional results include:
