The solution
11,000 new parking meters were deployed to manage 20,000 spaces. With so many meters, accommodating a diverse range of payment preferences was critical. So, alongside the cashless dual-bay meters, we introduced the HKeMeter app. This offers drivers over 15 different ways to pay, including Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Octopus, and more.
To improve the parking experience, motorists have real-time bay availability information, which reduces both space-finding time and congestion. This information is live on both the HKeMeter app and data.gov.hk for extra accessibility. Parking sessions can also be extended remotely via the app.
